DALLAS – A federal judge in Texas has decided that rapper Pooh Shiesty should stay in custody due to serious kidnapping charges. This decision follows an incident involving a contract dispute with Gucci Mane’s record label.

Pooh Shiesty, whose real name is Lontrell Williams Jr., faced U.S. Magistrate Judge Renee Harris Toliver during a recent court hearing in Dallas. Prosecutors have also charged eight other individuals in connection with a confrontation that reportedly took place in January at a music studio, where the victims were allegedly threatened and robbed at gunpoint.

While the identities of the victims have not been disclosed, an FBI affidavit mentions one victim, identified only as R.D., who is tied to 1017 Records, the label owned by Gucci Mane, whose legal name is Radric Delantic Davis.

During the hearing, Judge Toliver stated, “I find that the weight of the evidence against you is strong.” She highlighted Pooh Shiesty’s criminal history and noted that he had previously violated a home confinement order linked to a firearms conspiracy conviction in Florida.

Pooh Shiesty’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, raised doubts about the evidence presented by the prosecution, suggesting, “The FBI doesn’t take three months to arrest someone if they believe everything that was said on the night that it occurred.”

The allegations state that Pooh Shiesty arranged a meeting at a music studio to discuss his contract with 1017 Records. According to the affidavit, he entered the recording room, displayed contract termination paperwork, and allegedly brandished what appeared to be an AK-style pistol, coercing the label owner into signing.

Reports suggest that Pooh Shiesty then took the owner’s wedding ring, watch, earrings, and cash during the incident.

Originally from Memphis, Tennessee, Pooh Shiesty had been residing in a high-rise apartment in the Dallas suburb of Frisco before his arrest. The affidavit reveals that several co-defendants traveled from Memphis to Dallas ahead of the meeting.

Gucci Mane is a well-known figure in the music industry, often credited as a pioneer of trap music alongside other notable artists like T.I. and Jeezy. He first gained attention in the mid-2000s with his hit single “Icy” and has since built an extensive music catalog.
