SAN ANTONIO – A 45-year-old man from Nashville named Dario Kozul has been arrested in connection with a robbery and theft case that took place in San Antonio. This news comes from an arrest affidavit detailing the allegations against him.
Kozul was taken into custody and booked at the Bexar County Adult Detention Center, facing serious charges according to court records. The investigation began after an incident on June 26, where Kozul and another unidentified suspect reportedly broke into a tow lot business and assaulted a male witness.
The affidavit reveals shocking details: Kozul and his accomplice allegedly confined the witness in a “large dog kennel” and used tow straps to keep him from escaping. The witness claimed he felt a gun pressed against him during this ordeal, making it clear that this was not just a simple theft.
During the robbery, Kozul and the other suspect are said to have stolen various tools and items from the business. Surveillance footage captured Kozul operating a forklift to intentionally damage the front gate of the lot, allowing them to escape with the stolen goods.
After the robbery, Kozul and the suspect loaded the stolen items into a white pickup truck and fled the scene, accompanied by an unknown third person. Notably, the footage also showed one of the suspects wearing a mask to hide their identity, a tactic often seen in criminal activities.
Interestingly, just two days later, security cameras recorded the same white pickup truck at a gas station. In the truck’s bed, police noticed a generator that had been reported stolen during the robbery. A man seen in the bed of the truck appeared to resemble one of the suspects from the earlier footage.
Connection to Other Alleged Crimes
But that’s not all. Investigators tied Kozul to another crime that occurred on July 7, involving a trailer theft from the 900 block of Peggy Drive. This location is roughly five miles from the tow lot where the initial incident took place.
According to a San Antonio Police Department officer, they recognized Kozul immediately from surveillance video taken at the Peggy Drive business. Once again, the same white pickup truck from the June robbery was spotted in the footage from this second incident.
During the July theft, Kozul allegedly caused significant damage—over $2,000 worth—and stole a trailer, further deepening his legal troubles. As of now, he remains in custody with a bond set at a combined total of $150,000.
As this case unfolds, it serves as a reminder of the complexities involved in criminal investigations and the importance of surveillance technology in solving crimes. Kozul’s actions have not only led to his arrest but also raised concerns about safety and security in the San Antonio area.
