BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – A disturbing incident has come to light in Bexar County where a man has been charged with animal cruelty after allegedly killing his pet French bulldog. Erik Estrada, 47, was taken into custody on Thursday and is facing serious charges for his actions.
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about animal cruelty around 4:10 p.m. on Thursday in the 11200 block of Amberina, a neighborhood in west Bexar County. Upon arrival, deputies spoke to a witness who identified Estrada as the suspect in this heartbreaking case.
Reports indicate that Estrada became irate during a disturbance the day before and struck his French bulldog multiple times in the head. Following the alleged assault, the dog was left outside unattended for several hours, leading to its unfortunate death.
After the dog passed away, Estrada is said to have buried the animal in his backyard. Investigators later found the remains of the bulldog during their inquiry.
Estrada has been charged with animal cruelty, which is classified as a third-degree felony in Texas. He was booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center on a $20,000 bond, and as of Friday morning, he remains in custody.
