PERTH – A jury in Australia has found British social media star and rapper Yung Filly guilty of assaulting a fan after a performance, but he was not convicted of more serious charges, including rape and choking. The verdict was delivered on Friday in the District Court of Western Australia.

The rapper, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, 30, was visibly emotional after the jury’s decision. He had pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, including six counts of rape and three counts of assault involving bodily harm that occurred in September 2024 in a hotel room.

Due to legal restrictions, the identity of the woman involved cannot be revealed. At the time of the incident, she was just 20 years old.

After three days of deliberation, the jury found Yung Filly guilty of two assault charges connected to biting the woman. During his eight-day trial, he claimed these were “love bites” and insisted that she did not complain about any pain.

While he was acquitted on several charges, there remains a possibility of a retrial on three counts of rape, as the jury could not reach a unanimous verdict on those allegations.

Despite being convicted, Barrientos is free on bail and will return to court on August 21 to discuss the next steps in the case. He had been touring Australia, performing in cities like Sydney and Melbourne, before the incident took place in Perth. His tour was set to conclude in Brisbane, where he was arrested shortly after the allegations surfaced.

Prosecutors argued that the woman initially consented to sexual activity but later retracted her consent out of fear for her safety. The court was shown evidence, including photographs depicting bruises and bite marks on her face and neck.

Since being charged, Barrientos has been out on bail and was permitted to return to the UK for several months.
