OLMOS PARK, Texas – The Olmos Park police are reaching out to the community for help in a concerning case involving a peeping Tom. They are asking anyone who may have been a victim to come forward.

The police made this request following the arrest of a suspect, identified as Jose Roberto Medina, 30 years old. According to the arrest affidavit, a tipster recognized Medina from a surveillance photo that had been shared with local news outlets just a week prior to his arrest.

Medina is accused of following two women who were jogging in an Olmos Park neighborhood last Tuesday. Reports indicate that he looked into the window of one woman’s home. Just two days later, he allegedly struck at the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW), where he entered a dorm room through an unlocked door and exposed himself to a female student.

Both victims described similar experiences, noting that Medina committed a sexual act in front of them. This has understandably left residents feeling uneasy. Saree Kampf, a local salon owner, expressed her shock as she walked through Olmos Park, stating, “It’s a nice neighborhood, so you would think that it would be pretty safe.”

It’s unsettling for women in the area. Kampf, who regularly exercises in the neighborhood, noted the coincidence of walking the same path as the first victim. “As women, we just need to have our guard up at most times,” she said.

Meanwhile, UIW student Jackie Gonzalez received a campus alert after the incident, though she felt it lacked important details. “It was just a basic alert. ‘Hey, keep your eyes out,’ kind of thing,” she explained. This lack of information added anxiety, especially for those with friends living on campus.

In response to the incident, UIW police confirmed that they issued a campus-wide alert to all students, staff, and faculty on the night it occurred. Michael Valdes, a university spokesman, stated that police presence on campus has been increased, and he reminded students to always lock their doors and remain aware of their surroundings.

Gonzalez noted that she plans to be more vigilant on campus in light of these events. “Hopefully everybody just stays safe,” she said.

Records indicate that Medina has a criminal history, including a prior burglary arrest, and was on probation at the time of this incident after being released from jail in February.

If you or anyone you know may have been a victim in this case, please contact the Olmos Park Police Department at 210-829-3241, ext. 314. Your voice matters, and reporting can help ensure the safety of the community.
