BOERNE, Texas – Heavy rains have caused Cibolo Creek in Boerne to rise significantly, leading to multiple water rescues in the area. Residents are urged to stay safe as local authorities respond to the situation.
The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Kendall County, including Boerne, effective until 4:15 p.m. Wednesday. This warning indicates that immediate action may be required due to rapidly rising water levels.
In response to the flooding, the City of Boerne has closed off River Road. Residents in the vicinity are encouraged to seek higher ground as a precautionary measure against potential flooding.
First responders have already conducted rescues for two vehicles that were stalled at the intersection of Herff Road and River Road. Local authorities are actively working to ensure the safety of residents.
Chris Shadrock, a spokesperson for the City of Boerne, emphasized the seriousness of the situation in a social media update at 11 a.m. “This is a life-threatening weather event,” he stated. “We are seeing flood conditions that we have not seen since 2015.”
Additionally, the city has closed the intersection of Main Street and River Road due to flooding, further restricting travel in the area.
Shadrock urged residents, “If you are somewhere safe and not in danger, please stay there. Roads all across Boerne are flooded. Roads that don’t typically flood are flooded. Travel is discouraged all across the City of Boerne today until conditions improve.”
This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available. Stay safe and stay informed!
