LAS VEGAS – Rafael Nadal, the legendary tennis player and 22-time Grand Slam champion, is set to make a highly anticipated return to the United States early next year. This marks his first appearance since retiring from professional tennis two years ago. Nadal will headline “The MGM Slam presented by Capital One” at T-Mobile Arena on February 28, as announced by event organizers on Monday.

Nadal, who is celebrated for his remarkable achievements on the court, has a special connection to Las Vegas. He previously faced rising star Carlos Alcaraz in a Vegas exhibition during his final season. Reflecting on that experience, the 40-year-old Spaniard shared, “I remember how impressive it was to feel the energy of a full arena in a city like Las Vegas. Now I return in a different stage of my life, without the pressure of the tour but with the same passion for this sport. I have always loved competing, and even if my professional career is finished, that feeling never really goes away.”

The upcoming exhibition promises to be an exciting event for tennis fans, as additional players and the specific format will be announced in the coming weeks. Scheduled just before the ATP 1000 event in Indian Wells, California, this exhibition provides a unique opportunity for fans to witness Nadal in action once more.

In last year’s exhibition, eight players competed in a tiebreaker format, highlighting the thrilling nature of these events. Nadal’s participation is expected to draw significant attention, not only due to his illustrious career but also because of the nostalgic excitement surrounding his return to competitive play.
