With over two decades of experience in journalism, particularly in education coverage, Eva brings a wealth of knowledge and insight to her new position. Her previous role as assistant managing editor at the Fort Worth Report saw her overseeing a range of educational topics pertinent to Tarrant County. Furthermore, she was instrumental in launching The Dallas Morning News’ Education Lab, a nonprofit initiative dedicated to exploring how policy impacts students across Texas.

Eva’s commitment to education journalism is evidenced by her leadership role as president of the Education Writers Association, a testament to her influence and authority in the field. Her expertise is expected to elevate the Tribune’s education coverage, especially as they enhance their weekly education newsletter and expand their reporting team with a new K-12 reporter based in Houston.

Under her guidance, the education team, including seasoned reporters like Jaden Edison, who specializes in K-12 education; Sneha Dey, focusing on pathways to workforce readiness; and Jessica Priest, who covers higher education, is poised for growth. Eva will also collaborate closely with Rob Reid, the Tribune’s education data developer, to ensure data-driven reporting on educational issues.

Based in Fort Worth, Eva’s presence will bolster the Tribune’s commitment to North Texas, enhancing the newsroom’s regional coverage. The Texas Tribune is excited about her arrival and anticipates significant advancements in their education reporting under her leadership.
