SAN ANTONIO – A serious incident unfolded near St. Mary’s Strip, where a man was taken into custody after allegedly forcing a woman into his vehicle at gunpoint, according to a report from the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD).
On August 5, officers responded to a gun disturbance call at the intersection of Valero Street and Terry Court, located roughly two blocks from the busy nightlife area of St. Mary’s Strip. Witnesses reported that a woman was forcibly placed into a vehicle under threat of a firearm.
At approximately 1 a.m., SAPD located the vehicle in question and detained 24-year-old Jason Shea Santos, along with the woman involved. Santos was subsequently arrested and charged with a serious offense.
According to the police report, the victim stated that she and a friend had returned to their vehicle briefly to retrieve a forgotten perfume bottle before heading to a nearby bar. During this time, Santos allegedly attempted to catcall her from his vehicle, but she declined his advances.
Santos reportedly left the scene but returned wearing a face mask and holding a firearm, demanding that the woman get into his vehicle. Out of fear for her safety, she complied with his demands.
The police report indicates that Santos drove away with the woman, expressing a desire to “talk with her and make out,” while the firearm remained in his lap. This troubling behavior escalated the situation significantly.
Fortunately, the woman’s friend had witnessed the entire encounter and promptly contacted the police. Upon arriving at the scene, SAPD officers arrested Santos without incident.
During questioning, Santos denied pointing the gun at the woman, claiming they were acquaintances. Contrarily, the victim maintained that they had never met prior to that evening.
As a result of this incident, Santos was charged with aggravated kidnapping with a deadly weapon, a first-degree felony under Texas law. Court records indicate that he was booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center later that day on a $75,000 bond and was released from custody two days thereafter.
This incident highlights ongoing concerns about safety in nightlife districts and the importance of swift police intervention in potential abduction cases. The SAPD continues to encourage residents and visitors to report any suspicious behavior to ensure the safety of the community.
