BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – A man was found dead with “evident trauma” in southeast Bexar County, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies responded to the scene around 9:30 a.m. Sunday in the 8000 block of New Sulphur Springs after a person in the area spotted the body and called authorities. The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) confirmed that the man was located in a private road, approximately one foot off the side of the road.

Upon arrival, deputies observed that the man exhibited signs of decomposition. BCSO spokesperson Joshua Hamby provided further details at the scene, stating that the man had “evident trauma” on his body. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office is tasked with determining the cause and manner of death.

“There are signs of decomposition on the body; we don’t believe that he was killed here at the scene,” Hamby noted. “We believe that the body was dumped over here at this location.” This statement suggests that investigators are considering the possibility of foul play, although no weapons were found at the scene.

Additional information regarding the identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding his death has not been made available at this time. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to piece together the events leading up to this tragic discovery.

BCSO will provide details on a death investigation happening in the 8000 block of New Sulphur Springs.
