SAN ANTONIO – In a troubling incident that occurred in late 2025, a San Antonio police officer named Arturo Trevino was fired in May 2026 after serious allegations arose regarding his conduct during an arrest.

The incident began on December 20, 2025, when officers responded to reports of a drunk man on Culebra Road. By the time Officer Trevino arrived, another officer had already apprehended the suspect, who had attempted to flee the scene.

As Trevino assisted with the arrest, he reportedly encountered resistance from the suspect, who began using profanity. Body-worn camera footage from the incident captures Trevino telling the suspect to “shut the f— up” not once but twice, before he forcefully pushed the man against the door of his patrol car.

According to the disciplinary records, Trevino’s actions escalated significantly. He was seen on video throwing the handcuffed suspect onto the ground, punching him three times, and slapping him. Such use of force was deemed “unnecessary physical violence” by officials reviewing the case.

Officer Trevino had only joined the San Antonio Police Department in July 2023, making his actions even more concerning given the short duration of his service. His indefinite suspension was formally issued in May 2026, following a thorough investigation into the incident.

This incident raises important questions about police conduct and accountability, highlighting the need for ongoing training and oversight within law enforcement agencies. As communities strive for safety and justice, incidents like these underscore the importance of responsible policing practices.
