SAN ANTONIO – Residents on the North Side of San Antonio are expressing their concerns about a new late-night gaming room that they believe is causing disruptions in their neighborhood since it opened a few months ago.

The gaming room is located in the 1300 block of Basse Road, near Blanco Road, a spot that was previously home to Blessed Car Company and Quekas Grill. Many longtime residents are noticing changes in their community, with increased activity and disturbances that are impacting their daily lives.

One resident, who has lived on the street for over 40 years, reported that the disturbances include loud music, speeding cars, fights, underage drinking, and even drug use. There have been troubling incidents, including shootings, which add to the community’s worries about safety.

“There’s tons of young adults. A lot of noise during the night when people are trying to rest, doors slamming,” the resident said. This individual, who preferred to remain anonymous, mentioned that groups of intoxicated young people often gather in front of her home, making it difficult for her to feel comfortable in her own space.

Despite attempts to reason with the noisy gatherings, the response from the groups has not been friendly. In fact, the situation has escalated to the point where fights break out in a nearby alley, and drug paraphernalia is frequently discovered along sidewalks where children walk to school.

“They were leaving a lot of trash,” she added, emphasizing that every day the residents find themselves picking up litter in front of their yards. “We don’t want our neighborhood treated like this.”

Another local business, J & R Tile, Inc., has reported similar observations. While they have not encountered issues during the day, their surveillance cameras capture dozens of cars parked in front of their property at night, indicating that something is amiss.

The San Antonio Police Department has responded to nearly 50 calls for service at this location since February, with reports including loud music, disturbances, burglaries, and shots fired. Such statistics underline the growing concerns of the neighborhood.

“Very disgusted because we’re all quiet. We all stay to ourselves,” said one resident. “We all go to work. We take care of each other. It’s disgraceful to us and our neighborhood.”

Bexar County property records reveal that the building is owned by Haby Kinder LLC, a local real estate company. Residents have expressed that they are not against new businesses moving into the area; they simply want a safe and respectful environment for their families.

“Everyone is homeowners; they’re not going to just get up and go,” one resident stated. “We’re just going to have to put up with it, and that’s not fair.”

Residents of this San Antonio neighborhood are hoping to restore a sense of safety and comfort in the place they have called home for many years. In response to these issues, the San Antonio police have stated that officers from the SAFFE (San Antonio Fear Free Environment) and night patrol units are actively monitoring the area. They encourage residents to report any suspicious or criminal activity by calling SAPD’s non-emergency line, reinforcing community trust and safety.
