GUADALUPE COUNTY, Texas – A tragic shooting incident occurred early Sunday morning in San Marcos, leading to the arrest of a suspect, as reported by the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident unfolded around 2 a.m. on Crossover Road, prompting multiple emergency calls. Witnesses reported hearing numerous gunshots, and authorities quickly responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, San Marcos police found 32-year-old Sergio Raynaldo Mata lying in the driveway of a home, having suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators quickly identified Miguel Angel Marquez, 21, as the shooter. He was arrested by the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office and is facing serious charges, including murder and deadly conduct.
During the investigation, it was discovered that several bullets had struck not only Mata but also a nearby vehicle and a home across the street. Fortunately, a man sleeping in the bedroom where the bullets entered was unharmed.
