Data: DWI arrests during 2026 Fiesta drop compared to last year’s event, tie 5-year low

In a recent report, San Antonio police revealed that they arrested 114 people on suspicion of driving while intoxicated (DWI) between April 16 and April 26. This number marks a 19% decrease compared to 2025, when 141 individuals were taken into custody. Interestingly, this year’s figure ties with the lowest number of DWI arrests during the Fiesta celebration in the past five years, a record set in 2024.

While the SAPD noted the total number of DWI arrests, they mentioned that it is difficult to determine how many of these arrests were directly related to the Fiesta events. However, they confirmed that all the arrests occurred during the days of the festival.

A closer look at the data shows that there were specifically 15 arrests that were identified as related to Fiesta activities. This highlights the ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to ensure public safety during large gatherings.
