SAN ANTONIO – Recently, a man named Alonzo Arce Jr. was arrested in San Antonio on two serious charges: online solicitation of a minor. This arrest followed an undercover investigation conducted by the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

During this investigation, Arce allegedly interacted with an undercover agent who was pretending to be a 14-year-old girl. Sheriff Javier Salazar explained in a news conference that during these conversations, Arce exhibited grooming behavior and made sexually suggestive comments. Grooming is when an adult builds a relationship with a minor to manipulate them into sexual activity.

This was not Arce’s first time engaging in such behavior; he had reportedly communicated with another undercover agent last year and made sexually explicit remarks. The sheriff’s office took this matter seriously and obtained an arrest warrant, which led to Arce’s apprehension at a restaurant located in the 7500 block of Northwest Loop 410. Thankfully, he was arrested without any issues.

Sheriff Salazar took the opportunity to remind parents and guardians about the importance of monitoring their children’s online activities. With technology being such a big part of our lives, it’s crucial to keep an eye on who kids are talking to and what they’re doing online, as well as in real life.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers that can arise from online interactions. Always prioritize safety and be aware of the signs of grooming or inappropriate behavior. For more information on online safety and how to protect yourself and your loved ones, consider checking resources like the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children or local law enforcement websites.
