FORECAST HIGHLIGHTS

FORECAST

South Central Texas is bracing for another scorching day on Tuesday, with temperatures expected to soar near 100°F. This persistent hot and dry weather pattern is anticipated to linger through the end of the week, as a robust high-pressure ridge continues to dominate the region. A Heat Advisory is currently in effect from noon to 7 p.m., warning residents of heat indices that may spike to between 108°F and 110°F.

Unfortunately, this oppressive heat is unlikely to relent anytime soon. As temperatures hover near the 100°F mark, the heat indices are expected to remain elevated, exceeding 110°F in many areas.

RAIN CHANCES

Rainfall appears unlikely for the remainder of the workweek, as the high-pressure ridge keeps skies predominantly clear and conditions dry. However, by the weekend, a shift in the ridge is expected to allow a weak front to approach South Central Texas.

Rain will only be very spotty over the weekend as the heat high moves west.

This front may bring only a modest 10% to 20% chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms on Saturday. While some areas might experience brief rain, widespread precipitation is not anticipated, and conditions will predominantly remain hot and humid.

Despite the calm weather, the Nueces River is still grappling with significant flooding due to rainfall from two weeks ago. Water levels are finally beginning to recede near Cotulla, but the flood crest is still making its way downstream. It is expected to reach major flood stage near Three Rivers to George West from Thursday through at least the weekend.
