SAN ANTONIO – The family of a man shot and killed by San Antonio police SWAT officers is seeking answers and justice for their loved one. The incident has raised serious questions about police conduct and the events leading up to the tragic shooting.

On a recent Wednesday, family and friends gathered to remember the victim, identified as Barajas, during a vigil held at the apartment complex where he lost his life. Leeila Barajas, his sister, expressed the family’s pain, stating, “We want answers. We want justice for our brother.”

According to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD), covert and SWAT units were on the lookout for a suspect who had multiple felony warrants. Officers conducted surveillance and found him at an apartment complex on West Dickson Avenue.

The situation escalated when the suspect approached in a vehicle, prompting officers to use a flash bang for distraction. SAPD claims that the suspect then allegedly fired multiple shots at the officers. In response, two officers, identified as Jonathan Reyes and Salvator Hernandez, fired back, resulting in the suspect’s death.

As a standard procedure, both officers have been placed on administrative leave while the investigation is ongoing. Meanwhile, Barajas’ family is demanding more information regarding the circumstances of the shooting, including details about the weapon the suspect allegedly used and the treatment he received after being shot.

This incident has sparked discussions about police accountability and the procedures followed during high-stress operations. The family’s quest for answers reflects a broader need for transparency and justice in law enforcement interactions. The community is watching closely as the investigation unfolds, hoping for clarity and resolution.
