BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – A tragic incident unfolded in Bexar County, Texas, where a man named Francisco Garza, 39, was arrested for allegedly witnessing a violent attack on another man who was later found dead. The shocking details emerged as the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case, highlighting serious issues of crime and responsibility.

The situation began on September 6, when deputies were called to the 8000 block of New Sulphur Springs. A body was found there, and it was noted that the victim was only wearing undergarments. According to BCSO spokesman Joshua Hamby, signs of decomposition indicated that the victim had not been killed at the scene. Instead, it appeared that the body had been dumped there.

The victim was identified as Jaime Adolfo Rodriguez, 37, who had suffered serious injuries, including a gunshot wound, cuts, and broken ribs. The medical examiner ruled his death a homicide, raising urgent questions about what had transpired just days before.

Rodriguez’s family last saw him on September 4, when he gave them $800. They were concerned about where he got the money, but he simply told them, “don’t ask.” This raised suspicions, especially since it was later revealed that he had allegedly stolen $7,000 from a woman who had recently been incarcerated.

Security footage showed Rodriguez at a West Side home early on September 5. He was seen leaving a vehicle and heading towards the back of the property, but minutes later, he was filmed running away from the scene, pursued by two armed men.

Garza’s Role in the Incident

After the investigation began, deputies executed a search warrant at the West Side property and talked with Garza, who was living there as a tenant. Garza admitted to witnessing Rodriguez’s encounter with the group of men but claimed he was too scared to intervene.

Garza explained to investigators that he had gone to a neighbor’s house to drink a beer when a white SUV pulled up with several people inside. They asked for Rodriguez, claiming he owed them money. Garza was forced to relay a message to Rodriguez, fearing for his own safety due to the armed men.

When Rodriguez arrived at the house, he was allegedly attacked by the men, who punched and kicked him. Garza, witnessing the violence, reportedly pleaded with the attackers to stop. Rodriguez managed to escape but was eventually captured and forced into the trunk of a vehicle.

Garza later expressed to detectives that he never thought Rodriguez would be killed and was shocked to learn of his death days later. He was arrested and charged with failure to report a felony that resulted in death, a Class A misdemeanor.

As of now, Garza remains in custody at the Bexar County Adult Detention Center, with a bond set at $10,000. His case raises important questions about the responsibilities of witnesses in violent situations and the consequences of fear in the face of crime.
