AccuWeather has teamed up with the Hunt Preservation Society (HPS) to enhance severe weather preparedness in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. This partnership is especially vital as local communities continue to recover from the floods that hit last summer.

As part of AccuWeather’s efforts for 2026, they will provide specialized severe weather warnings tailored to specific locations. This means that the Hunt Volunteer Fire Department and ten summer camps in the west Kerr, Hunt, and Kerr County areas will have direct access to expert advice from meteorologists. The goal is to improve how these organizations plan, communicate, and make decisions when severe weather strikes.

This partnership was born from discussions with local leaders earlier this year, focusing on how to build long-term recovery and resilience in the aftermath of last year’s devastating floods. Community leaders believe that having access to reliable weather forecasts, advanced alerts, and expert support will significantly enhance safety for residents, first responders, campers, and visitors throughout the region.

AccuWeather’s commitment to helping communities prepare for extreme weather events is a crucial step towards ensuring that everyone can stay safe during emergencies. By working together with local organizations like HPS, they are not just predicting the weather; they are helping to protect lives and property.

This collaboration highlights the importance of community engagement in disaster preparedness and response, a lesson that can resonate with everyone, especially teens who are often active in their local communities.
