LA SALLE COUNTY, Texas – On Sunday afternoon, residents in La Salle County experienced some unexpected shaking when a 3.6-magnitude earthquake struck the area. This event was reported by the United States Geological Survey (USGS), a reliable source for information on earthquakes and other geological phenomena.
The earthquake occurred at approximately 3:52 p.m., about 7.5 miles southeast of the town of Dilley, Texas. The earthquake was relatively shallow, with a depth of 4.2 miles, which often means that it can be felt more strongly at the surface.
Interestingly, this wasn’t the only seismic activity in the area that day. Just 41 minutes earlier, at 3:11 p.m., a smaller earthquake measuring 2.4 on the Richter scale was recorded, also around 7.5 miles southeast of Dilley but at a greater depth of 6 miles.
As of now, there have been no reports of damage or injuries resulting from these earthquakes. However, it’s always a good idea for residents in earthquake-prone areas to be prepared and know what to do during seismic events.
