BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – On Tuesday, Bexar County voters will participate in the Texas primary runoff election, featuring several pivotal race outcomes that could shape the political landscape of the state. Among the most significant matchups is the Republican contest for U.S. Senate, where incumbent John Cornyn faces off against Attorney General Ken Paxton.

What’s on the ballot?

The highlight of this ballot is the contest for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate between John Cornyn and Ken Paxton. Recently, on May 19, former President Donald Trump endorsed Paxton, adding an intriguing element to the race. The winner will go on to face the Democratic nominee, James Talarico.

In Texas’ 35th Congressional District, Republican candidates Carlos De La Cruz and John Lujan will compete, while Democrats Maureen Galindo and Johnny Garcia will vie for their party’s nomination.

Additionally, Bexar County’s Democratic primary for district attorney has narrowed to two contenders: former appellate judge Luz Elena Chapa and Jane Davis, who serves as the chief of the juvenile section of the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office. The winner will face Republican Ashley Foster in November, as current District Attorney Joe Gonzales has opted not to seek re-election.
