SAN ANTONIO – Victor Wembanyama delivered an electrifying performance on Monday night, scoring a season-high 41 points and grabbing 16 rebounds, as the San Antonio Spurs achieved their ninth consecutive victory by defeating the Chicago Bulls 129-114. This remarkable game also saw Wembanyama set the record for the fastest double-double in NBA history, achieving this feat in just 8 minutes and 31 seconds.

Wembanyama’s record-breaking pace was set early in the game, as he secured his 10th rebound just 1:55 into the second quarter. This remarkable accomplishment surpasses the previous record held by Jim Washington of the St. Louis Hawks, who recorded a double-double in nine minutes against the New York Knicks on March 6, 1966.

The young star capped off his impressive outing with a powerful one-handed dunk midway through the fourth quarter, reinforcing his dominance on the court. Wembanyama’s shooting was also noteworthy; he finished the game with 17 of 27 from the field and made 3 of 6 attempts from beyond the arc, marking the 14th time this season he has scored at least 30 points.

Stephon Castle contributed significantly to the Spurs’ success with 21 points, 10 assists, and eight rebounds, showcasing the depth of talent on San Antonio’s roster. The Spurs’ nine-game winning streak highlights their strong performance as they continue to build momentum this season.

On the Bulls’ side, point guard Tre Jones managed to score 23 points in his first game back in San Antonio since being traded to Chicago, a part of the deal that brought De’Aaron Fox to the Spurs. Leonard Miller added 21 points, while Collin Sexton chipped in with 20, although the Bulls struggled, suffering their fourth consecutive loss.

The Spurs exhibited a balanced offensive effort with six players scoring in double figures. They showcased their dominance by extending their lead to 29 points at one stage in the third quarter, a testament to their cohesive team play and strategic execution.

The Bulls had to contend with the aftermath of waiving Jaden Ivey for “conduct detrimental to the team” shortly before the game. The injured Ivey did not travel with the team during their four-game road trip, which may have impacted team morale. However, Chicago started strong, taking an early lead following an uncontested slam by Matas Buzelis, prompting a quick timeout from Spurs coach Mitch Johnson.

As the season progresses, both teams will look to build on their respective performances. The Bulls will host the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday, while the Spurs are set to face the Golden State Warriors on the same day, aiming to extend their winning streak.
