PORTLAND, Ore. – San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama will not be participating in Game 3 against the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night. This decision comes just three days after he sustained a concussion from a fall during Game 2.

Head coach Mitch Johnson confirmed Wembanyama’s status prior to tipoff, stating that while he is doing well, he is still in the recovery process.

Before departing for Portland on Thursday, Wembanyama was observed at team practice but did not participate in any activities. He was seen wearing a Spurs hooded sweatshirt and sweatpants, indicating he is still in recovery mode.

The team’s injury report listed Wembanyama as “questionable” for Game 3, highlighting the uncertainty surrounding his health following the concussion.

Wembanyama was diagnosed with a concussion after a significant fall during the second quarter of Game 2, which ruled him out for the remainder of that game.

According to NBA guidelines, players in concussion protocol are prohibited from engaging in unrestricted basketball activities for a minimum of 48 hours post-injury. If symptoms do not worsen, players may gradually resume activities, but they must clear several symptom-free benchmarks before a team physician can approve their return to play.

Game 3 is set to take place at 9:30 p.m. on Friday, with Game 4 following at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, both games hosted in Portland.
