SAN ANTONIO – Spurs Sports & Entertainment (SS&E) has taken a significant step towards the development of a new arena by selecting a team of experienced contractors. The San Antonio-based Bartlett Cocke General Contractors and Mortenson, a well-regarded firm from Minneapolis, have been appointed to lead this ambitious project.
Mortenson is no stranger to high-profile sports developments. The company has successfully collaborated with Marquee to construct new stadiums for both the NFL and Major League Baseball franchises in Las Vegas. This extensive experience positions Mortenson as a key player in ensuring the new arena meets the highest standards of functionality and fan experience.

R.C. Buford, CEO of SS&E, emphasized the importance of local involvement in the project, stating, “We’ve said from the beginning that the people who call San Antonio home should help build what comes next for our city and today is an important step in delivering on that commitment.” His words highlight the organization’s dedication to fostering community relationships and ensuring the new arena resonates with local culture.
Buford further noted the strengths of the selected firms, stating, “Bartlett Cocke and MP Studio bring deep local knowledge, relationships, and an understanding of this community, while Mortenson offers exceptional experience building some of the best sports and entertainment venues in the country. Together, they understand what we’re trying to build and why it matters to San Antonio.”
This collaboration signals a promising future for San Antonio’s sports landscape, with the potential for a state-of-the-art arena that serves not just as a venue for events but also as a community hub.
