MIAMI – Klay Thompson has officially signed with the Miami Heat, concluding weeks of speculation about the sharpshooter’s next move. Having cleared waivers on Sunday afternoon, Thompson promptly finalized a two-year contract valued at approximately $11.5 million, with the second year being an option for him.
The decision to join the Miami Heat makes strategic sense for both Thompson and the franchise. Known for his love of water sports and the boating lifestyle, Thompson will feel right at home with the Heat playing their games near Biscayne Bay. Additionally, as a player of Bahamian descent, he connects with a significant base of Heat supporters from the nearby Bahamas. Most importantly, with the recent acquisition of two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, adding Thompson’s elite shooting was a priority for the Heat.

Thompson’s winning pedigree is another asset he brings to Miami. He was part of the “Splash Brothers” alongside Stephen Curry, helping the Golden State Warriors clinch four NBA championships. With five All-Star selections to his name and the league record for most three-pointers made in a single game (14), he is poised to make a significant impact on the Heat.
