INDIANAPOLIS – Grammy-nominated Jordin Sparks will sing the national anthem at next week’s Indianapolis 500, race organizers announced Thursday.

Sparks, an accomplished singer, songwriter, and actress, has a rich history with the Indianapolis 500 as she also performed the anthem before the 2015 and 2024 races. This year’s event, often referred to as the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing,” is scheduled for May 24, promising an exciting experience for fans of motorsports.

“Jordin knows how important the national anthem performance is to the pre-race ceremonies of the Indianapolis 500, and we have been moved by her two previous renditions,” said Indianapolis Motor Speedway President Doug Boles in a statement released by track officials. He emphasized that this year’s performance will hold special significance as the nation celebrates its 250th birthday, making it a moment to remember as fans gear up for another thrilling edition of the race.

In terms of attendance, Boles announced that reserved seats for the Indianapolis 500 have sold out, although general admission tickets remain available. The grandstand capacity is estimated to be around 275,000, with the event historically attracting an estimated 350,000 fans, making it the largest single-day spectator sporting event in the world.

Sparks first gained widespread recognition as the youngest winner of “American Idol” during its sixth season. Since then, her music has resonated with audiences, leading to over 10 million digital track sales in the U.S. She has also showcased her songwriting talents, co-writing Ariana Grande’s hit single, “The Way.”

Her career has seen her tour with iconic artists such as Britney Spears, Alicia Keys, The Jonas Brothers, New Kids on The Block, and the Backstreet Boys, in addition to headlining her own tours. Sparks has received several accolades, including two BET Awards, one American Music Award, and one People’s Choice Award, along with two Grammy nominations.

Beyond her music career, Sparks has made her mark on Broadway and starred in the film “Sparkle,” alongside the late Whitney Houston. Recently, she has also ventured into network news, showcasing her versatility as an entertainer.
