WASHINGTON – Law enforcement officials successfully disrupted what were described as “planned attacks” targeting the UFC cage-fighting show held at the White House this past weekend. Multiple individuals are now in custody, according to FBI Director Kash Patel, who provided updates on the situation during a press conference on Tuesday.

While the specific nature of the threats remains undisclosed, further details are anticipated to be released as charges against the suspects are unsealed later today. This incident underscores the vigilance of law enforcement agencies in ensuring public safety during high-profile events.

According to law enforcement sources, five individuals were arrested in connection with this case, with arrests taking place across several states, including Ohio, Missouri, and California. An official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the investigation, confirmed these details to The Associated Press.

The FBI’s awareness of the potential threat began on June 10, just four days prior to the mixed martial arts event that took place on the South Lawn of the White House. Director Patel credited the swift actions of the FBI, along with collaborative efforts from the Department of Justice, which led to the apprehension of the individuals involved. “Allegedly planned attacks were stopped cold,” he stated in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The Secret Service also played a critical role in this operation. Director Sean Curran expressed gratitude for the tireless work of agents who “worked around the clock to identify those responsible and hold them accountable.” This incident highlights the importance of interagency cooperation in preventing potential threats to national events.

The UFC event, which coincided with the 80th birthday celebration of former President Donald Trump, was part of larger festivities commemorating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Trump used the occasion to link the excitement of the fights with broader national celebrations, emphasizing the significance of such events in American culture.

As the investigation continues and more information is revealed, this incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in maintaining security and public safety during high-profile gatherings.
