Loop 1604, I-10 closures planned this weekend as major expansion project continues

SAN ANTONIO – Drivers navigating through the Loop 1604 and Interstate 10 interchange on the Northwest Side should brace themselves for significant traffic disruptions this weekend due to ongoing construction as part of the Loop 1604 North Expansion Project.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has announced that several lanes and frontage roads will be closed starting from 1 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, until 5 a.m. on Monday, June 8. This closure is necessary to facilitate crucial bridge construction work, which is part of the broader initiative to enhance traffic flow and safety in the region.

The following closures are scheduled during the weekend:

TxDOT assures that all flyover ramps at the Loop 1604 and I-10 interchange will remain open during the construction period. However, drivers should anticipate delays and are advised to follow the posted detour signs for alternative routes.

Several lanes and frontage roads will be closed from 1 a.m. Saturday, June 6, through 5 a.m. Monday, June 8, to allow crews to perform bridge construction work.

New Ramp Opening Monday

In a positive development, TxDOT has indicated that a new eastbound I-10 entrance ramp from Camp Bullis Road is scheduled to open on Monday, June 8, weather permitting. This new ramp is part of the ongoing improvements associated with the Loop 1604 North Expansion Project and aims to facilitate better access for motorists in the area.

Permanent Closure Begins Monday

On Monday, June 8, TxDOT will also implement a permanent closure of the eastbound I-10 entrance ramp immediately after La Cantera Parkway, along with the nearby Exit 556B. This change is part of the overall traffic management strategy aimed at improving the flow of vehicles in the area.

Motorists are encouraged to allow for extra travel time and exercise caution when navigating through construction zones throughout the weekend to ensure safety.

On Monday, June 8, TxDOT will permanently close the eastbound I-10 entrance ramp immediately after La Cantera Parkway, as well as the nearby Exit 556B.
