SAN ANTONIO – In a concerning incident on Friday night, a driver was detained following a crash involving a police officer on the Northwest Side of San Antonio, as reported by the San Antonio Police Department.
The collision occurred just before 9:30 p.m. in the 6700 block of Whitby Road. Officers were patrolling the area when they observed a vehicle speeding westbound on Whitby Road, traveling at an excessive rate.
According to police, the driver of the speeding vehicle then entered the eastbound lanes, prompting the officers to take evasive action to avoid a potential collision. Despite their efforts, the driver’s vehicle sideswiped the police car.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident. Upon stopping the vehicle, officers identified the driver as a 51-year-old man who exhibited signs of intoxication during a field evaluation.
