SAN ANTONIO – In a dramatic turn of events, dashcam footage has emerged showing a Refugio man, identified as Brandon Christopher Figueroa, 25, attempting to evade law enforcement before crashing through a gate at the San Antonio International Airport. This incident unfolded on August 22, when Figueroa became the subject of a traffic stop initiated by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) near Loop 410 and Babcock Road.
What began as a routine traffic stop quickly escalated into a vehicle pursuit, with law enforcement trailing Figueroa through various areas of San Antonio. The chase reached a critical point when Figueroa drove his 2012 Chrysler through a large gate off Jones Maltsberger Road, ultimately leading him onto the runway of San Antonio International Airport. The impact of the crash severely disabled his vehicle, halting the pursuit.
Video footage released by the DPS captures the tense moment as Figueroa exited his car, with troopers drawing their weapons and instructing him to surrender. The situation, which could have escalated further, concluded with Figueroa’s arrest on the airport runway. Following his capture, he was booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center later that day.
According to Bexar County court records, Figueroa faces several serious charges as a result of the pursuit. These include multiple third-degree felonies, which highlight the severity of his actions during the incident. Additionally, he has been charged with criminal trespassing involving a deadly weapon, classified as a Class A misdemeanor. As of now, Figueroa remains in custody, with a bond set at $59,500.
