In response to the incident, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office has indicated that Favela will receive a notice of proposed dismissal, in accordance with agency policies. He will also be placed on unpaid administrative leave while the termination process is underway.

Sheriff Javier Salazar expressed his determination to ensure that Favela is removed from the agency, stating, “Of course, we have to let due process run its course, but my intention is to separate this person from the agency as soon as possible. He will never wear this uniform again.”

Currently, U.S. Customs and Border Protection is conducting a criminal investigation into the matter. Simultaneously, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is undertaking a separate internal investigation to determine the full extent of the situation and ensure accountability.

This incident raises significant concerns regarding the integrity of law enforcement personnel and their role in immigration matters. The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office emphasizes its commitment to maintaining public trust and upholding the law in all circumstances.
