In a concerning development for parents and caregivers, Nara Organics has issued a voluntary recall of its whole milk organic infant formula sold at Target stores across the United States. This response comes after three infants were hospitalized with cases of infant botulism, a rare but serious illness.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the recall on June 14, 2026, urging customers to “stop using all Nara Organics infant formula immediately.” This precautionary measure highlights the potential risks associated with the product, as the three infants affected were diagnosed with a condition linked to the consumption of clostridium botulinum bacteria.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), infant botulism can occur when babies ingest spores of this bacteria. Symptoms can manifest as constipation, poor feeding, loss of head control, and difficulty swallowing, which may escalate to severe respiratory issues.
The cases of infant botulism were reported in California, Pennsylvania, and Washington. As a precaution, Nara Organics stated that, as of June 14, none of their formula tested positive for the dangerous bacteria, but the investigation remains ongoing.

How to get a refund
For those who purchased the whole milk organic infant formula through Nara Organics’ website between May and June of this year, refunds are being processed. Customers can expect refunds to be completed within 10-15 days. Furthermore, any new orders that were in process at the time of the recall have been canceled and will be refunded.
If you bought 700 gram cans of Nara at Target, the company advises visiting your local store or following Target’s online return instructions. It is important to note that Target has not sold any 400 gram cans of Nara Organics infant formula.
