GILLESPIE COUNTY, Texas – In a shocking incident early Wednesday morning, a house explosion left two individuals injured and necessitated their transport to hospitals in the San Antonio area. The Fredericksburg Fire/EMS reported the incident, which occurred around 8:30 a.m. at a residence located in The Overlook at Bear Creek subdivision, approximately nine miles south of Fredericksburg along U.S. Highway 87.
When emergency crews arrived at the scene, they found the house “fully involved in fire,” indicating the scale of the explosion and subsequent fire. One of the injured individuals was airlifted to a hospital in the San Antonio area for urgent medical care.
Currently, there are no road closures in effect, although local authorities urge residents to steer clear of the area to facilitate the safe access of first responders. “This appears to be an isolated incident, with no further damage to the surrounding community,” stated Fredericksburg Fire/EMS, alleviating fears of broader impacts from the explosion.
Authorities have confirmed that no additional evacuations are anticipated following the explosion, providing some reassurance to nearby residents. The investigation into the explosion’s cause is currently being led by the Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the City of Fredericksburg and the Gillespie County Fire Marshal’s Office.
In addition to local fire departments, several agencies responded to the scene, including the Comfort Volunteer Fire Department and Willow City Volunteer Fire & Rescue, showcasing a community effort in dealing with this emergency.
