NEW YORK – Get ready for an exciting halftime show at the World Cup! Justin Bieber is set to join a lineup of superstars that includes Madonna, Shakira, and BTS. FIFA made this thrilling announcement on Wednesday, and fans are buzzing with excitement.
Also taking the stage will be Afrobeats sensation Burna Boy, renowned conductor Gustavo Dudamel, and the PS22 Chorus, a talented group of elementary school students from Staten Island, New York. They will be performing alongside Coldplay, making this event even more special.
The halftime performance is set for 11 minutes during the final match, which will take place outside New York on July 19. Curated by Coldplay’s Chris Martin, this show aims to support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which is working to raise $100 million to help children worldwide access education and soccer.
“The FIFA World Cup brings the world together in a way nothing else can,” Bieber expressed in a statement. He also emphasized his gratitude for being part of the Halftime Show, knowing that it contributes to expanding educational opportunities for kids around the globe.
One of the standout performances will be by Burna Boy, who is also one-half of this year’s official World Cup anthem, “Dai Dai,” alongside Shakira. This catchy song blends Afrobeats with Latin rhythms, celebrating a diverse array of cultures. In one verse, Shakira mentions famous soccer players and countries competing in this year’s tournament, like Brazil, Argentina, and Japan.
“The FIFA World Cup is one of the few moments that truly brings the entire world together,” Burna Boy shared. He feels honored to represent Africa in this historic halftime show.
While the Super Bowl is known for its spectacular halftime performances, soccer events typically don’t feature such shows. However, this year’s World Cup will make history with a vibrant halftime experience that promises to entertain fans worldwide.
Adding to the fun, characters from “Sesame Street,” including beloved Muppets like Kermit and Miss Piggy, will also make an appearance during the performance.
