LONDON – Hugh Jackman, the famous Australian actor known for roles in films like “The Greatest Showman” and “Logan,” has expressed a desire to join his friend Ryan Reynolds in owning a part of a soccer club in England. Jackman, a fan of Norwich City, recently shared his excitement during an interview while promoting his upcoming movie, “The Death of Robin Hood.”
In the interview broadcast on TalkSport, he was asked if he would like to invest in Norwich City, which is primarily owned by Mark Attanasio, who also owns the Milwaukee Brewers baseball team. Jackman replied, “I’m very, very interested in talking about it right now.” He even teased fans by saying, “You’re the first one to know that. There’s a little exclusive!”
Norwich City and Wrexham, the club owned by Reynolds, have become rivals in the English Championship, the second tier of English football. Although Wrexham has gained international fame since Reynolds and his partner Rob McElhenney bought it in 2021, Norwich boasts a more storied history. The team has been in the Premier League and made headlines in 1993 when they eliminated the powerful German club Bayern Munich in the UEFA Cup.
Jackman expressed his support for Norwich by saying, “Good on Ryan, you do your thing, I’m all about the Canaries,” referring to Norwich’s nickname, which is inspired by their iconic yellow and green uniforms. Both clubs are aiming for promotion to the Premier League, known as one of the most valuable soccer leagues globally.
Looking ahead, Jackman is optimistic about Norwich’s prospects this season, especially after the hiring of Belgian coach Philippe Clement last November. “I think it’s an exciting team and it’s going to be an exciting year,” he added, highlighting the positive changes within the club.
