BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – Recently, a father from San Antonio, Alejandro Dominic Martinez, faced serious legal issues after violating the terms of his probation related to the tragic death of his 8-month-old child.
Martinez, who is 24 years old, was originally charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Back in November 2025, he was sentenced to eight years of deferred adjudication. This means he was given a chance to stay out of jail, but had to follow strict rules during his probation.
Recently, during a court hearing, it became clear that Martinez had not adhered to these rules. The exact nature of his violation hasn’t been disclosed, but it was serious enough for the judge to transfer him to a state-sanctioned Intermediate Sanction Facility (ISF). This facility serves as a rehabilitation program for individuals who violate the terms of their probation.
What Happened?
The background of this case is deeply tragic. In April 2023, police reported that Martinez and the child’s mother, Ruby Mora, were having an argument at their apartment. During this heated moment, a gun accidentally discharged, hitting both Mora and their baby, who was in her arms at the time.
Sadly, the infant succumbed to her injuries later at the hospital. Initially, both parents faced charges related to the incident. However, just one week after Martinez received his deferred adjudication, Mora’s charges were dismissed.
This case highlights the serious consequences that can arise from reckless behavior, especially when firearms are involved. It’s a reminder of the importance of making safe, responsible choices, particularly when it comes to family and loved ones.
