NYPD: Teen beaten into seizure, coma after NBA Finals Game 4 between Spurs, Knicks

NEW YORK – A teenager remains in a coma after a violent incident that occurred outside Madison Square Garden following the New York Knicks’ Game 4 victory in the NBA Finals. This unfortunate event has raised concerns about safety during public celebrations.

The incident began with a verbal altercation involving a social media content creator who was interacting with the crowd. According to reports from WABC, the creator asked fans about their team loyalties, which led to a provocative response: “Spurs in 7.” This comment sparked a fight that escalated quickly.

During the altercation, a group began to physically assault a 17-year-old boy, with one individual reportedly punching and kicking him in the head and body. As a result, the teenager suffered a seizure and fell into a coma.

Authorities from the NYPD are actively searching for the person responsible for the attack, who is wanted on charges of “gang assault.” The police have urged anyone with information about the incident to reach out to their Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-8477.

After being transported to a local hospital, the teenager was reported to be in critical condition, but fortunately, he has since stabilized. This incident serves as a harsh reminder of the potential dangers that can arise from heated sports rivalries and public gatherings.
