KERR COUNTY, Texas – A phone call to the Kerr County Sheriff’s Office ended nearly 12 hours of searching for a suspect in an assault on a teenage boy.

Early on Friday morning, someone reported a suspicious man near Interstate 10, prompting the sheriff’s office to take action. This led to the capture of David Bryan Cox, 44, just after 11 a.m. Cox is accused of strangling a teenage boy and causing injuries.

The incident happened late Thursday night at an RV park on Goat Creek Road, which is not far from where Cox was found. The sheriff’s office had issued a Code Red Alert, warning that Cox was armed and dangerous, as he had fled the scene carrying at least one weapon and wearing a tactical vest along with a gun belt filled with magazines.

Residents of the RV park and surrounding areas were advised to stay alert and indoors. Nathaniel Short, a resident, expressed his surprise upon receiving the alert, stating, “It was very surprising.” He added, “For this to happen is very shocking, so very concerning.”

The RV park is home to both long-term residents and visitors. Many were startled to see law enforcement officers stationed throughout the area. At one point, patrol cars suddenly left the RV park, only to regroup in an empty lot closer to the highway.

Meanwhile, deputies continued their search in a grassy area near an access road, with a police dog assisting in the effort. Eventually, it was confirmed that Cox was captured, but deputies remained on-site to search for any weapons he might have had.

Back at the RV park, Short mentioned that he and his neighbors were prepared to protect themselves if needed. “This is a community where we know everybody will protect each other,” he said, emphasizing the solidarity among residents.
