SAN ANTONIO – Recently, a man was linked to two separate sexual assault cases in San Antonio, particularly on the city’s North Side. In a surprising turn of events, police found a crucial piece of evidence – a red jacket – near one of the crime scenes.
This discovery happened when investigators from the San Antonio Police Department were searching an apartment complex located on Cross Canyon, close to Bitters Road. They were following up on a reported incident involving a 24-year-old woman who had been attacked outside a gym nearby.
According to the police report, the woman explained that the man approached her while she was sitting in her car in the parking lot. When she opened her door to talk to him, he positioned himself between the door and her car, blocking her from closing it.
The situation escalated when the man attempted to kiss her and then fondled her before fleeing the scene. Thankfully, police were able to secure video footage from the apartment complex across the street, which captured the suspect at various points while wearing the red jacket that was later discovered in the bushes.
The incident from May has since been highlighted in a Crime Stoppers appeal released last week. In a recent update, police have now indicated that the same man is also a suspect in a separate attack involving a 16-year-old girl.
A preliminary report shared by the authorities states that the teen reported the attack occurred in an elevator at an apartment building on Alametos Street, which is near the intersection of San Pedro Avenue and Fresno Street.
