GUADALUPE COUNTY, Texas – Recently, two men were arrested for allegedly stealing a massive shipment of seafood worth over $250,000, as reported by the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO).
On April 24, law enforcement was alerted about a stolen cargo shipment that was being transported in a truck tractor and semi-truck trailer in Guadalupe County. The sheriff’s office shared this information in a Facebook post, highlighting the swift action taken by their team.
Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 8800 block of West Interstate 10, where they apprehended Rafael Velez, 35, and his accomplice, Leonardo Lara. Both individuals were charged with a first-degree felony for theft of cargo valued at $200,000 or more.
The next day, on April 25, the Criminal Investigations Bureau and GCSO confirmed that the stolen cargo included a significant shipment of snow crabs. The authorities began the process of returning the valuable seafood to its rightful owner, ensuring that the loss was minimized.
