FORT HOOD, Texas – Tragedy struck Fort Hood late Saturday night when a shooting occurred at the Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area. According to a recent news release from the U.S. Army, one person lost their life, and two others were injured in this shocking incident.
The situation unfolded around 9 p.m. when two military police officers were dispatched to the scene following reports of a brawl. Eyewitnesses claimed that multiple shots were fired, escalating the situation rapidly.
In total, three individuals sustained injuries. A civilian was rushed to a local hospital, where unfortunately, they were pronounced dead due to their injuries. A second civilian, who is not affiliated with the Department of Defense, was also taken to the hospital and is currently in stable condition, according to the Army’s report.
Additionally, a service member present at the scene received treatment for minor injuries but was later released. The Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division is leading the investigation into the incident.
