BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – In a troubling case that has captured local attention, a fifth suspect has been arrested in connection with the kidnapping and death of Jaime Adolfo Rodriguez. His body was discovered on September 6 in southeast Bexar County, leading to a series of arrests linked to this tragic event.
The latest suspect, 33-year-old Matthew Doria, was taken into custody on Tuesday. He is facing serious charges, including aggravated kidnapping with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, as indicated by Bexar County jail records.
Rodriguez, aged 37, was found deceased on a private road in the 8000 block of New Sulphur Springs Road. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has officially ruled his death a homicide, revealing that he suffered a gunshot wound to the upper left chest, along with head lacerations and multiple broken ribs.
Doria’s arrest follows earlier detentions of three individuals: Amanda Ann Garza, 40; Mark Anthony Moran, 38; and Carlos Alvidrez Jr., 36. Each of these suspects has been charged with aggravated kidnapping with a deadly weapon related to the abduction of Rodriguez.
Additionally, Francisco Garza, aged 39, was arrested earlier in the investigation. Initially charged with failing to report a felony resulting in death, his charges were later upgraded to aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after authorities reviewed surveillance footage.
Investigators have uncovered that the kidnapping was linked to a dispute over money and drugs. According to an affidavit, Amanda Garza told detectives that Rodriguez had previously robbed her of $12,000, which was allegedly intended for a drug deal. This money reportedly belonged to Doria.
Surveillance footage from Garza’s home shows Doria arriving shortly after the robbery, wearing a red Nike “Just Do It” T-shirt, dark pants, and white sneakers. In the video, Amanda Garza can be seen discussing the robbery with Doria.
Further evidence from surveillance video captured the assault on Rodriguez at a different location. The footage shows a man, matching Doria’s description, attacking Rodriguez and attempting to force him into the back of a rental vehicle.
Currently, Doria is being held in the Bexar County jail with a bond set at $350,000 as the investigation into this tragic case continues.
