SAN ANTONIO – A man named Adrian Amador, who is just 20 years old, has been re-arrested after allegedly shooting at a Department of Public Safety (DPS) trooper. This incident occurred while he was already out on bond for a serious aggravated assault charge, as stated in an arrest affidavit.

Amador was taken into custody on Monday after investigators received an anonymous tip linking him to a shooting that happened on October 30. At the time of the incident, he was already out on bond in three different cases, which raises serious concerns about public safety.

During the shooting, Amador was prohibited from having firearms and was required to wear a 24-hour ankle monitor. Investigators used this monitor to track his movements and connect him to the crime scene.

The DPS troopers had responded to a report of a burglary involving another trooper’s unmarked vehicle at the Homewood Suites hotel located in the 4300 block of Spectrum One. Amador’s ankle monitor indicated that he was in the area during the time of the shooting.

Not long after the initial report, a trooper spotted a black Ford pickup truck near the hotel. The trooper followed the truck after it made a U-turn and headed onto the Interstate 10 frontage road. According to the affidavit, a passenger in the truck pointed a weapon at the trooper, which led to a gunshot being fired. Fortunately, neither the trooper nor his vehicle was hit during this frightening encounter.

Interestingly, investigators are still unsure whether the vehicle burglary and the shooting are connected or if they are just coincidental events. Surveillance footage showed two individuals in hooded sweatshirts leaving the Broadstone Colonnade Apartments in the truck, but investigators have not been able to identify the vehicle through video or license plate data.

The GPS data from Amador’s ankle monitor revealed that he was also in and around the Broadstone Colonnade Apartments during the time of the shooting. The monitor’s records showed that he traveled the same route described by the trooper, eventually arriving at his home on the far West Side.

Additionally, a DPS trooper discovered social media posts featuring Amador with large amounts of cash and firearms, further complicating the situation. While Amador and his brother were detained on Monday evening, court records indicate that his brother has not been arrested in connection with the shooting.

Amador stated that he and his brother work in landscaping and that a friend resides at the Broadstone Colonnade Apartments. Although he admitted to being at the apartments on October 30, he denied any involvement in the shooting, according to the affidavit.

This case highlights ongoing concerns about gun violence and public safety, particularly involving individuals who are already facing serious criminal charges. As investigations continue, more details may emerge that could shed light on the connections between these events.
