SAN ANTONIO – A water main break has forced the closure of Broadway between Roy Smith and Casa Blanca Wednesday morning, according to a San Antonio Water System (SAWS) spokesperson.
SAWS reported that a significant 24-inch cast iron main broke under the underpass, leading to road damage that necessitates a “complete closure of Broadway.” This incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by infrastructure in urban environments, where aging pipelines can lead to unexpected disruptions.
While there are currently no reports of customers being without water service, the closure is expected to last several hours. Drivers in the area are urged to seek alternate routes to avoid delays. This type of incident underscores the importance of regular maintenance and monitoring of municipal water systems to ensure public safety and minimize inconvenience.
