SAN ANTONIO – The Spurs Jackals, a fervent fan group that prides itself on being the loudest in the NBA, is set to expand its membership for the upcoming season. This year, they will welcome 100 new members, increasing their total to 175 dedicated fans.
Auditions for the new members will take place at the Frost Bank Center, a venue known for its vibrant atmosphere during Spurs games. The demand for these coveted spots is high, with nearly 300 enthusiastic applicants vying for a chance to join the ranks of the Jackals.
One hopeful applicant, Adrian Lamas, expressed his excitement about the opportunity. “Every day I’m screaming on the couch at the TV,” he shared. “I finally have some people around me who are going to match that same energy.” Lamas embodies the spirit of the group, which aims to elevate the game-day experience through sheer enthusiasm and support for the Spurs.
After the top 100 candidates are selected, all new Jackals members will be required to pay a membership fee of $999. This fee grants access to all preseason and regular-season home games, ensuring that members can be part of the electrifying atmosphere the Jackals are known for.
Lamas shared his philosophy on being an active participant in the crowd: “I’m just going to be myself, be the hype man for myself and be the hype man for the people around me and set the bar.” He further elaborated on the importance of being proactive in creating the energy at games, saying, “People talk about not being a thermometer, but being a thermostat and setting the temperature rather than just reading it.”
As the Spurs season approaches, the addition of new members to the Jackals signifies a commitment to fostering a passionate and supportive environment for the team. For both seasoned fans and newcomers alike, being part of this group offers a unique opportunity to engage with the game in a vibrant and dynamic way, reinforcing the community spirit that defines San Antonio basketball culture.
