SOFIA – Exciting news for music fans! The Eurovision Song Contest is heading to Burgas, a beautiful port city on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast, in 2027. This will be a historic moment as it marks the first time Bulgaria will host this renowned music extravaganza.

Bulgaria made headlines earlier this year when singer Dara triumphed in the contest with her catchy song “Bangaranga,” beating out 24 other competitors. With this win, the country has finally secured its first-ever victory in Eurovision history!

The announcement was made by Bulgaria’s public TV broadcaster BNT and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). The event is set to take place over several days, with the semifinals scheduled for May 11 and 13, 2027, followed by the grand final on May 15.

While Sofia, Bulgaria’s capital, also expressed interest in hosting the event, the decision to select Burgas indicates confidence in the city’s ability to deliver a spectacular show.

Eurovision director Martin Green shared his enthusiasm, stating, “Burgas will bring something truly special to Eurovision.” He emphasized the city’s vibrant culture, musical heritage, and well-established infrastructure as key factors in the decision.

Milena Milotinova, head of BNT, expressed her commitment to work closely with the EBU and the city of Burgas to create an unforgettable experience for viewers around the world. The collaboration aims to meet the high expectations of millions of fans who tune in each year.

Burgas Mayor Dimitar Nikolov also shared his excitement, calling it a significant honor for the city to host such a prestigious event.

In related news, Eurovision organizers have introduced new rules regarding hosting eligibility. Countries facing armed conflicts or security risks will now be barred from hosting the contest, ensuring the safety of participants and attendees. This change comes after recent tensions surrounding the contest, particularly related to Israel’s participation.

Additionally, the minimum age for competitors has been raised from 16 to 18, a move aimed at better protecting younger artists from the pressures of competition.

This upcoming Eurovision promises to be an exciting and historic event. With Burgas at the helm, fans can look forward to a dynamic celebration of music and culture!
