RANCHO PALOS VERDES, Calif. – A man named Jeanine John Taele was arrested recently at President Donald Trump’s golf course near Los Angeles. This incident took place just two days before a fundraiser event hosted by Trump at the golf course on Sunday.
Authorities from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department found Taele while he was taking photos and videos of the security preparations at the golf course. He had a loaded magazine containing 16 rounds of ammunition in his pocket and a loaded pistol in his car. Following his arrest, law enforcement searched Taele’s home in Downey and discovered multiple firearms, magazines, body armor, and notebooks that contained “concerning statements.”
Although the sheriff’s department did not specify the content of the notebooks, they did not rule out the possibility that Taele might have been planning something serious, such as an attack on the president or the event itself. This raised alarms, especially as Trump was scheduled to arrive for a Republican National Committee dinner at the golf course during the time of Taele’s arrest.
Taele faces several charges, including second-degree robbery, possession of a large-capacity magazine, and carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle. He pleaded not guilty to all charges and has been ordered by the court to stay away from the golf course and not to possess any weapons. His bail is set at $250,000.
At the time of his arrest, Taele was already under investigation by the El Segundo Police Department for robbery. Fortunately, the sheriff’s department has assured the public that there is “no credible threat to our communities,” aiming to ease any fears regarding the incident.
