SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio actor Steve Dominguez is bringing a compelling narrative from the Alamo City to the screen with his film “Heart of Glory.” This indie drama debuted recently as part of the San Antonio Film Festival, showcasing local talent and culture.

In the film, Dominguez takes on the role of Jimmy “The Kid” Sanchez. The production took place across various iconic locations in San Antonio, making the city itself a character in the story. “I didn’t want to look like an actor playing a boxer; I wanted to look like a legit boxer in a boxing film,” Dominguez stated, emphasizing his dedication to authenticity.

To prepare for his role, Dominguez drew inspiration from renowned local boxing figures, including the likes of “210 Bam” and Mario Barrios. His commitment to embodying the spirit of a boxer is evident, as he mentioned memorable scenes filmed at notable landmarks such as The Alamo, the River Walk, Arneson Theatre, and in front of the Alamodome. “Running on the River Walk, Arneson Theatre, downtown, in front of the Alamodome — just trying to capture as much of San Antonio as we can in this film,” he explained. “Because I love my city, this is my city, born and raised.”

“Heart of Glory” was helmed by the late director Jorge López Ramírez, who was honored during the film’s premiere. The screenplay was crafted by Lorena Dominguez, further showcasing local storytelling talent and creativity.

The film made its debut on Thursday at The Gunter Hotel, contributing to the rich tapestry of the San Antonio Film Festival lineup. With its focus on local culture and heartwarming narratives, “Heart of Glory” promises to resonate with audiences and celebrate the vibrant spirit of San Antonio.
