NUECES RIVER FLOODING AT COTULLA (4AM UPDATE)

Last week, the Hill Country experienced an incredible downpour, with approximately 480 billion gallons of water falling in the region. This massive influx of water is now flowing downstream, reaching the Nueces River at Cotulla, where it has hit a major flood stage, measuring nearly 20 feet. Experts predict that the river could rise another 3-4 feet by tonight, and it may remain at this significant flood level throughout the weekend. Residents and visitors along the river should exercise extreme caution as the situation develops.

The Nueces River at Cotulla has reached major flood stage and will rise a bit more over the next 24 hours.

T.S. BERTHA

Tropical Storm Bertha has gained strength overnight, with sustained winds now reaching 50 mph. While it may strengthen a bit more before making landfall near New Orleans on Wednesday, forecasters anticipate that wind shear and its proximity to the land will weaken the storm significantly. For those in Texas, the impact should remain minimal, with only a few isolated showers expected around San Antonio on Thursday.

T.S. Bertha will strengthen slightly today, before weakening significantly as it moves toward Texas.

FIRST TRIPLE DIGIT DAY THIS YEAR

San Antonio is set to experience its hottest day of the year so far on Wednesday, with temperatures soaring close to 100°F in the city. Areas to the south could even see temperatures climbing as high as 105°F. The heat index will make it feel even hotter, so staying hydrated and finding shade is crucial. As the week progresses, increased cloud cover may help to cool things down a bit.

Temperatures to hit 100 in San Antonio on Wednesday.
