SAN ANTONIO – Recently, a tragic incident occurred in the Stone Oak neighborhood, leading to the loss of two lives and leaving a community in shock. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victims as Albert Nixon Richter IV, 44, and his estranged wife, Brianna Richter, 40. This event took place on a Friday afternoon, marking a devastating chapter for their family and the surrounding community.

The police report states that Albert shot Brianna before turning the gun on himself. This incident unfolded in the 100 block of Red Hawk Ridge, near Hardy Oak Boulevard. Authorities have confirmed that Brianna’s death has been ruled a homicide, while Albert’s death is classified as a suicide.

Witnesses report that Albert forcibly entered their home by shooting through glass doors. San Antonio Police Chief William McManus indicated that Albert did not reside at the family home, raising concerns about how this confrontation escalated so quickly.

After several attempts to communicate with Albert, the SWAT team deployed tear gas inside the home. Subsequently, a drone was utilized to survey the interior, ultimately leading to the discovery of both Albert and Brianna deceased.

During this horrifying event, two children, who lived with Brianna, were present in the home but thankfully emerged unharmed. Chief McManus has not confirmed whether Albert was their father.

The neighborhood, known for its family-friendly atmosphere, was shaken by the police response during the Juneteenth holiday. Residents returned home to find streets closed off by SWAT and SAPD vehicles, and many were evacuated from their homes to ensure safety during the situation.

Erica Kennedy-Garcia, a neighbor, expressed her disbelief and sorrow, stating, “The home is supposed to be a safe space, so the fact that this happened, it’s a heinous crime and it’s unacceptable and its absolutely devastating.”
